How to Enroll

Enrollment is open now. Go to the official White House website to complete IRS Form 4547 on your child's behalf. The form takes about ten minutes to complete.

Here is what you need:

• The Social Security number of your child. This is required and the account cannot be opened without it.
• Your own Social Security number.
• The Social Security number of your spouse or partner, if you file taxes jointly.

The form covers two things at once: opening the account and electing the seed contribution your child qualifies for. Both must be completed on the same form at the same time, or the account opens without the seed contribution. If your child does not qualify for a seed contribution, this part of the form does not apply to you, and you can simply proceed with opening the account.
